Bill Cafaro

Bill Cafaro has represented the injured for more than 20 years. He received his B.S. degree in accounting from Fordham University in 1976 and his J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1979. After law school, he did criminal defense work in Northern California, and in 1981, he returned to his native New York to serve as a Narcotics Prosecutor in the Bronx District Attorney’s Office until 1986. He then began his focus in personal injury as a sole practitioner in Jackson Heights, Queens. Having come a long way since then, his determination has enabled him to take several verdicts in 8 figures. He is a firm believer in exhaustive trial preparation, with particular attention to medical animations and illustrations of the particular injuries sustained by each client. In addition to being admitted in New York, he is also admitted in California, Texas, and Maryland. He is on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers, and a member of the Labor Law Committee. He is also a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. He is also fluent in Spanish.
Steven M. Pivovar

Bronx born Steven M. Pivovar has been successfully trying personal injury cases for more than 32 years. He has argued before
juries in 26 different New York State and Federal Courts with more than 90 verdicts to his credit. Steve has proven himself
a well-prepared and formidable adversary in the trial courtroom. His knowledge of the law, writing skills and ability to argue
convincingly has made him a well respected lawyer on motions and appeals as well, with more than 20 reported cases to his credit.
During most of his career Steve was a thorn in the side of plaintiffs’ lawyers, obtaining excellent results in cases of serious
injuries as the senior-most trial attorney for over 30 different insurance companies and two of New York’s most highly respected
defense firms. Although his experience handling plaintiffs’ cases during those years was limited, it did result in a
pedestrian-knockdown plaintiff’s verdict in the defense-friendly venue of Delaware County; a products liability verdict against
a foreign machine manufacturer for a design defect in a 40 year-old printing press resulting in a crushed arm in Orange County;
and a $1.2M recovery in conservative Sullivan County for a volunteer who fell from a backhoe and sustained head trauma.
Now, exclusively on the plaintiffs’ side, Steve is able to analyze and prepare each case while anticipating the best
defense strategy. That ability has become an invaluable contribution to this firm’s most recent successes.
